The Arms of Christopher Cliff

Originally assumed by the armiger in 2016 the undifferenced arms were eventually granted, by the Canadian Heraldic Authority, to the armigerís father to be borne and used for ever hereafter by John Edward Cliff and by his descendants with such due and proper differences as may be provided, more particularly by his childrenĒ. The grant goes on to state that the arms of Christopher Douglas Cliff should be within a bordure Vert during his father's lifetime, all according to the Law of Arms of Canada.

The rational, as recorded in the entry for John Edward Cliff explains that: The chevron symbolizes the mountain ranges of British Columbia, signifying the armigerís attachment to the province, and also alluding to the surname Cliff. The ravens and snake represent the astronomical constellations of Corvus and Serpens respectively, illustrating his interest in astronomy and his contribution to the creation of Alberta's Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve. The green colour represents the armigerís fond memories of the forests in the area of the Thousand Islands in Ontario.
