It is a heraldic coronet that denotes no rank according to our heraldic tradition.
Just plane helm-coronet, or as Germans would say ''helmkrone''.
The English blazon should make it all clear:
Arms: Per bend sinister Gules and Or, 1 a phoenix Purple rising from flames Or, 2 a lymphad Gules, furled sails and flying banners Argent
Crest: Upon helm wreathed and mantled of the colours, issuant from helm-coronet a lion sejant guardant Or holding in his dexter paw an open book charged with two quills in saltire Gules
Motto: AD SCIENTIA ET PERSEVANTIA
