Re: Historical American Arms

According to the website, it's available this month, however I was just emailing back and forth with Mr. Beckwith and he had told me it would not be ready until the end of the year. I'm looking forward to it. I ordered one book rate -- let's see either if it comes or they notify me it will be late....

Historical American Arms

I've just noticed the New England Historic Genealogical Society is publishing a register of American Arms: http://www.americanancestors.org/Product.aspx?id=27963 The description: Founded in 1864, the Committee on Heraldry authenticates, preserves, and records coats of arms borne in the United States...

Re: Rev. James David Juliano No.0266

Very attractive arms. However, I have a question: the entry says that the arms have been registered with the American Heraldry Society however, the AHS does not register arms. Perhaps there was a typo and the USHR was meant? Agree, AHS does not run a registry. I do not see Rev. Juliano's arms on US...

Re: Scottish Territorial Designations

3rd) Does the named land have to be in Scotland? Let us assume that a family of Scottish ancestry owns an estate outside of Scotland to which a well-attested name is attached - perhaps like the Vanderbilt family and their Biltmore . If the Vanderbilts had been Scottish, and if they had approached L...

Arms Identification fun!

Let's identify the arms on this picture. So folks can know which you are identifying, let's use the convention: Row, Column: Identification.

Hmm - that's new... so I guess there will be no contacting them for a reminder on the updates...

Re: US Heraldic Registry

Cool.

Agree it must be inactive - nor are they making corrections. I did a correction on my nephew's crest and the spelling of his name some time ago and it's still incorrect.

Re: Arms Desgn and Balance

I like strong crests as long as the charges on the shield don't get "lost" due to size.

I strongly dislike artistry where the crest is small in comparison - a number of beginning artists have this problem.

Re: Modern Armorial Bookplates

I have generally gone to e-readers... If anyone knows how to place an image as the "screen saver" for a Kindle.... Just give me some markers and paint, and you'll get that screensaver. Honestly, I've never used a Kindle, and I have no plans to use an e-reader in the near future. As much as I...
