Re: Christopher Joseph Marascalco Cummins No.0594
Interesting design, but at least on my cellphone screen the fimbration of the barrulet specified in the blazon isn't visible. The smaller the image the less we can see any fimbriation on any shield. In a small image the fimbriation would have to be disproportionately thick to be visible. fimbriatio...

Re: Assumed Arms in England
Also, IIRC at some point (?? when ??) Parliament imposed a tax on any arms used in public, whether or not they were granted or otherwise recognized by the College of Arms. While that taxation was later discontinued, it did demonstrate official Crown (via Parliament) categorical recognition of arms ...

Re: Assumed Arms in England
Is this simply a recognition that the College of Arms, unlike the Lyon Court, does not actively prosecute assumed arms within its jurisdiction? Hello Kevin, There is only one country in the world where the assumption of arms would lead to any form of legal action and that is Scotland. Whilst the Co...

I saw it yesterday by clicking on the Facebook entry you put up, also yesterday. Yes, once you've visited a page, the likelihood is that it will cache. You will need to press CTRL and refresh to see the revised version. We probably changed it shortly after your first visit to the page. As I said, d...

Thanks. There were a couple of "also's" I had to remove from the blazon to make it fit, but I think everything else is exactly correct. This library painting above was made by heraldic artist Tom Meek. We'd be happy to reinstate the "also's" if you send us an email with the "correct" balzon. Also (...

The arms are quite attractive! - though dual helmets & crests in a new design is surprising. Maybe it's a Romanian "thing"... Indeed it appears to be so. The designer took a great deal of time to explain and since then I have been invited to join the Rumanian Heraldry Group on FB. Here are two rand...

Re: Rev. Dr. Vance Leigh Sheen Whippo No.0572
The Committee on Heraldry of the New England Historic Genealogical Society have a very strange way of blazoning. Their record for these arms is: Arms: Azure three chevronels silver between a sphinx and a cross moline gold, in sinister chief a molet silver. Crest: A Paschal lamb. Their explanation is...

The Chief Herald of Malta
Some of you may know that I have challenged the right of the Chief Herald of Arms of Malta to grant new arms, register/matriculate existing arms and, most importantly, to regulate heraldry in Malta. Letters have been exchanged, the first being an enquiry to the Chief Herald himself which gained no r...

I can't quite make out the image of the tree however, it appears to have bare roots so it would be described as "eradicated". If it has leaves but exposed roots, it might be blazoned as "an oak tree (or whatever species it is) eradicated proper". If however, it has bare roots and no leaves then it m...

These arms have an interesting, all be it brief, history in that they were originally assumed with a crest, in Canada, by the grantee's son in 2016. More recently, the grantee's son and daughter decided that it would be nice to petition for a grant for their father and the original, undifferenced ar...

That said, having a Barony meant they fell under Lyon's jurisdiction for the purpose of getting granted "substantive" Arms. They still will - he just won't mention that they have a barony. His announcement merely stated that from the 1st March 2018 it will be his intention to no longer make mention...

Re: Hamilton Vs Lyon
I wonder how the recent decision will affect the recent feudal barony purchasers. I have no doubt that there will be some disappointment however, I suspect that the result will be that many foreign barons (a large percentage appear to be from the USA) will now consider that it isn't worth troubling...

It is interesting to note however that in a recently recorded talk to the Scottish Australian Heritage Council ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr7yCqLkZEA Lyon does not appear to be of the opinion that feudal baronies don't exist,...

Re: Later representations of medieval arms
Apologies for the delay.I believe that we need to put ourselves into the mindset of the compilers of the roll which, as you state, is circa 1576 by which time we were beginning to see regulation of arms via the Visitations so, it is likely that a "modern" form of marshalling may have been adopted. F...

Minor nit-pick - the bull in the crest is drawn in profile with the head guardant, but the blazon doesn't reflect that.
Cheers.

I must say that it does seem rather generous that such a recent publication has been freely released to the general public; the Officers of Arms are not usually so generous with their time. It is most welcome of course.

The case has been heard. It is now in the mulling over stage (as I call it). The judge is considering the evidence and "mulling it over". I have no doubt that her judgement will be published at some point in the legal press.

Without images, just blazons, are still free? Cliff, we have never simply recorded just the blazon. Copies of all publications (books) are ...
