Grandfather's arms

UPDATE: Sorry about the broken link and the delay in fixing it. It should work now. Here's a rendition of my grandfather's arms. I did this in pen and ink, then scanned to computer to convert it into a vector file and color it. My hope is the rope instead of mantling gives it a bit of a nautical fee...

While I enjoy the historical-looking emblazonment, there is something that can be said in favor of the rather minimalist versions that omit the helm and mantling altogether - leaving just the shield and the crest on its torse, usually in a near-50:50 ratio. That's my preference. I haven't paid much...

I didn't realise Jeremy that their would be so much heraldry around the early colonies at that time. Thanks for sharing this. Yes - definitely! According to the website, it's available this month, however I was just emailing back and forth with Mr. Beckwith and he had told me it would not be ready until the end of the year.
