Thank you for sharing, John! I read this announcement at rec.heraldry and thought it was quite good. If only some other chivalric institutions encouraged discretion more vigorously. :)

Wonderful John! I had wanted to read the article when I saw the blurb posted at rec.heraldry, but my lack of proficiency in other languages precluded meaninful interpretation. I will check out the piece now...

Thanks again!

What are the latest developments in Scottish heraldry?

Greetings, all! Has the Lord Lyon rendered a final verdict on the Baroness of Lag case? I am most interested in the outcome, and I have been lurking on the HSS forum a bit, but I haven't seen a definitive answer. Also, I had a good friend whom I trust mention that arms granted by the Lord Lyon quali...

Well, it's almost March of 2007 -- does anyone know if the 2006 ICOC Register is out now (in English, preferably)?

Many thanks!

Very nice -- is that a coronet atop the helm? If so, what is the rank?

Many thanks!

Striking work!

Thanks for sharing this attractive piece -- all you need is a metal helmet and chain mail to complete the look! Speaking of which, I found a sugar loaf helmet on Ebay for a very reasonable price a few months back... you may want to see what's out there.

Many thanks!

Very interesting, Nenad! Thanks for sharing! My wife is a Canadian and U.S. citizen, but her mother's nationality is full Serbian (they crossed the pond to the States only about 50 years ago). As such, I would be interested to know if she could obtain a grant of arms from the Royal family of Serbia....

2006 ICOC Register?

Greetings! I'm pretty sure that the 2006 (for 2005) ICOC Register is now out (as I thought it was released just before the Congress), but I can't find it anywhere on-line. Can anyone send me in the right direction -- maybe it's only in Italian?

Many thanks!

Cool pic! Thanks for displaying it! I'm completely with you on how scans shown on the 'net don't really do justice to the picture. My examples on the website (www.armorial-heirlooms.com) really don't capture how cool the giclee pieces actually look in person. I'm going to talk to a graphic artist ab...

Thanks, Stephen! How odd -- I looked up my profile at the time I noticed the omission and it said I had posted 0 messages, which of course was not accurate. Perhaps that section of HSS went offline for a brief spell and then was restored? Nevertheless, given the not quite robust number of responses ...

Genealogy/Heraldry Inquiry

Greetings, all! I posted something similar to this on the HSS Forum, but it got pulled (perhaps because it was about English heraldry instead of Scottish?). I'd like a little help on whether something might be true or not. A Pennington researcher across the pond theorizes that the Muncaster Penningt...

Recommendation of heraldic artists out there?

Greetings, all, with a special welcome to George Lucki on this forum! I am currently looking for a heraldic artist. While I realize that this is personal taste, I would strongly prefer someone with a solid grasp of digital heraldry as opposed to the hand-painted variety. That is, the person should b...

Greetings, all! Well, I was rather surprised, but I received a reply from the Crown today regarding my proposal. It actually emanated from the Lord Lyon, and his letter relayed that it is technically incorrect to say that only 174 formerly feudal baronies are claimed and the rest have been lost. It ...
