The Arms of Timothy Michael McClurg

The armorial bearings of Timothy Michael McClurg honor his father Frederick Henry McClurg (1924-1994), with a difference of crest to reflect Mr. McClurg’s profession.

The ravens transfixed refer to a Scottish story in which a widow's sons by three different men performed archery to show prowess with weapons for Robert the Bruce while he was on the run from the English. The brother's names were Murdoch, McKie and McClurg. The brothers joined The Bruce's army until he became Robert I, King of Scotland.

The fouled anchor is representative of the armiger's father’s service in the US Navy and his promotion to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. The crest was developed to denote the armiger’s profession as a scholar with the quill bendwise due to left handedness.
