Further Private Registration:

The armiger's arms reflect his Welsh Ancestry. Mr Ellis's paternal family descends from the Maryland Planter John Ellis (1729-1812) and his wife Mary Quinn. John Ellis was granted his lands in South Carolina by John Carteret, 2nd Earl Granville. He was the Great Grandson of John Ellis (died 1669) and Elizabeth Jo(a)nes both Immigrants from Wales. His Mother's family the Hanon's were Scots-Irish Immigrants from Ulster who served the British Crown in Colonel Philips Regiment of South Carolina Loyalists during the American Revolution.

The Crest also alludes to the Welsh Ancestry of Ellis and the shield supported by the rampant dragons bears the mythical arms of Ynyr, King of Gwent the said ancestor of the Arnold family of which the Armigers ancestor William Arnold of Providence, Rhode Island, bore (according to the 1957 work of William Armstrong Crozier -known as Crozier's General Armory pg. 14). Thomas Arnold of Watertown, Massachusettes circa 1635 bore similar arms Gules, a chevron Ermine, between three pheons Or. Variants of these arms were also born by the Arnold family of Gloucestershire, Chilwick, London, Little Missenden Abbey, Ashby Lodge, and Armswell.

Mr. Ellis served in the U.S. Army’s 8th & 7th Cavalry Regiments for seven years. He has been on two Combat tours to Iraq. His most recent awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, The Combat Action Badge.
