The Arms of Dr hab. n. med. Andrzej Wojtyczka (M.D., Ph. D.)

These are family arms borne in the Polish tradition (named, according to the Polish tradition “Woyawa”) and therefore also used by the armigers’ brothers Andrzej, Witold, and Artur Wojtyczka and their descendants. There are presently ten armigers using these arms: Andrzej Piotr Wojtyczka born 29.06.1951, his brothers Witold Janusz born 1954, Artur Karol born 1957, as well as Andrzej’s children: Radoslaw Andrzej born 1983, Arthur Josef born 1996, Monika Irena born 1998, Witold’s children: Maciej Witold, born 1982, Ewa Maria born 1984 and Artur’s children: Alexander Konrad born 1977 and Julia Karin born 1994.

The golden horseshoe is a reference to the armiger’s paternal and maternal forebears. Three spear-heads represent three brothers (the armiger and his two brothers). The golden annulet surrounding the horseshoe symbolises the close family relations between the brothers and their veneration for tradition. Blue and Gold are the colours of Upper Silesia, Poland, and represent the armiger’s pride for his country. The Crest alludes to the armiger’s home town Mikolow in Upper Silesia.

Dr hab. n. med. Andrzej Wojtyczka (M.D., Ph. D.) born 29th June 1951, graduated from the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, Poland, 1985 obtained his doctorate and 2000 postdoctoral qualification (habilitation).

2000 -2005, Deputy-Head of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. Since 2005 consultant surgeon, Department of General, Visceral and Oncologic Surgery, Klinikum Bremen Mitte, Teaching Hospital of the University of Goettingen, Germany.
