The Banner of Alan Littlewood

The armiger is a Master of Arts, Licentiate of the City and Guilds of London Institute, Freeman of the City of London, Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Bakers of the said City, Fellow and Past President of the Institute of British Bakers and Life Member of Diabetes U.K. and Life Member and Secretary of the Friends of Cliffe Castle

The purple is for the heather of the Yorkshire Moors in the Bronte Country. The dragon is for evil kept in strong chains and the baker’s peel stands for family interests in baking since the 1890s.

The oak sapling is canting for Littlewood, and the ram has the green mark of the sheep we used to keep on these local moors. However, this ram also stands for the ram caught in a thicket and sacrificed by Abraham to save his son Isaac. The sheep also stands for Jesus as the Lamb of God and the motto 'JESUS GIVES ME POWER' brings the whole together and stands as a warning never to forget the scriptures “It is God who gives you power to get wealth”, and that Jesus said “I give you power over all the power of the enemy” but “without me you can do nothing”.
