Sayid Husain Al Dizdar and his forefathers were awarded the title of Dizdar (castle ruler / warden) by the Ottoman Sultans of their time along with the deed of the Castle of Anah. The city of Anah is located on the river bank of the Euphrates in Al Anbar province of Iraq.

The Arms represent The Secretariat of Al Dizdar Family, members of which are all part of the Arabian Semite nobility which goes back to the Prophet Mohammed hence the colour green. The nineteen point star, also present in the family flag is representative of the symbolic number taken from the Holy Quran. The Castle represents the family’s ancestor Sayyid Husain Al Dizdar, Dizdar meaning "castle ruler", a title given to him by the late Sultan Selim I of the Ottoman Empire. The water wheels are a common sight all along the river Euphrates.
