The Arms of Roy Alexander Woods

The whole achievement respects (and is practically a reversal of) the armorial bearings of Wood of Largo viz: Argent, an oak tree Vert eradicated Proper fructed Or; Crest - A ship under sail Proper. Sir Andrew Wood of Largo, Fife, was Admiral to Kings James lll & lV of Scotland.

The oak tree of the crest represents and is an obvious pun on the strong and well-established family name of Woods.

The lymphad represents an ancient Scottish galleon sailing on the ocean, illustrating the Woods family ancestry with Scotland. The galleon also represents the family's long association with HM Coastguard Service who are responsible for public safety on the shoreline and out at sea.

The motto translates as " safe if brave".
